Speech on Earth

Welcome to the fascinating world of Earth, our home planet. You might know it as the blue sphere, teeming with life, spinning in the vast expanse of space.

Earth is unique, filled with diverse landscapes, climates, and species. It’s a place of mystery and wonder, waiting for you to explore.

1-minute Speech on Earth

Good Morning to everyone present here. Today, I am here to deliver a speech on the topic ‘Earth’. The Earth, our beautiful blue planet, is the only known celestial body to support life. It’s the third planet from the sun and the fifth-largest planet in our solar system.

Our Earth provides us with everything we need for survival, such as air, water, food, and shelter. It’s a treasure trove of natural resources that are essential for our survival and well-being. The lush green forests act as the Earth’s lungs, absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. The oceans, rivers, and lakes quench our thirst and are vital for various human activities.

However, in recent years, human activities have adversely impacted our planet. Through mindless exploitation of resources, we are causing harm to the Earth’s ecosystems. Pollution, deforestation, and global warming are major concerns that need immediate attention.

It’s our duty to respect and protect our Earth. Let us pledge to use resources wisely, reduce pollution, and promote sustainable practices. Remember, Earth does not belong to us; we belong to the Earth. So, let’s join hands to cherish and safeguard our Earth for ourselves and future generations.

Thank you for lending me your ears. Let’s make every day Earth Day.

2-minute Speech on Earth

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I stand before you today to talk about a subject that is close to all of us, our home, the Earth. The blue planet that we all share and cherish, a wonderful place of immense beauty.

Our Earth, ladies and gentlemen, is a miracle. Orbiting around the sun, it is the only known celestial body to support life. It’s a place teeming with diverse organisms, varying landscapes and climates, and incredible phenomena. From the deepest oceans to the tallest mountains, the Earth is a vibrant, ever-changing sphere of wonder and beauty.

But our Earth is more than just a physical entity. It is the very foundation of human existence. It has nurtured civilizations, witnessed the rise and fall of empires, and has been a constant guide for explorers and travelers. Our planet’s diverse climates, landscapes, and ecosystems have shaped cultures, traditions, lifestyles, and diets. Our literature, art, and science are deeply influenced by the natural world around us.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate the rich biodiversity our Earth supports. Rainforests with their dense vegetation, the serene beauty of coral reefs, the icy landscapes of the polar regions, the deserts with their unique adaptability, and the myriad of life forms that each of these ecosystems support are all part of this incredible biodiversity. This diversity is not just for us to admire, but it is crucial for the survival and health of our planet.

However, this beautiful planet is under threat. Pollution, global warming, deforestation, and a host of other problems caused by human activities are pushing our Earth to its limits. We have exploited Earth’s resources, disrupted its ecosystems, and are now facing the consequences. Rising temperatures, melting ice caps, frequent wildfires, and loss of biodiversity are just a few of the alarming signs.

So, what can we do to protect and preserve our Earth? Just as the problems have been caused by our actions, it is our actions that can make a difference. We can start by reducing our waste, recycling more, and limiting our use of plastic. We can conserve water, use renewable energy, and plant more trees. We can educate ourselves and others about the importance of sustainable living and the consequences of our actions on the environment.

Earth Day Speech Tips

Captivating opening, establishing credibility and connection.

To establish credibility as a speaker, share your personal experiences, involvement in environmental causes, or relevant expertise. This establishes a connection with your audience and demonstrates that you are passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. By showing your authenticity, you inspire trust and make your message more compelling.

Developing a Clear Message

Craft a clear and concise message that conveys the essence of Earth Day. Your speech should emphasize the importance of environmental stewardship, sustainable practices, and the role of individuals in creating positive change. For example, “On this Earth Day, let us recognize that the fate of our planet lies in our hands. It is our responsibility to protect and preserve the Earth for future generations through conscious actions and collective efforts.”

Structuring Your Speech

Introduction: Revisit your attention-grabbing opening and provide a brief overview of what you will discuss. Set the tone for the speech and generate enthusiasm among your audience.

Engaging Delivery

A well-written speech needs to be delivered effectively. Pay attention to your tone, pace, and body language. Maintain eye contact with your audience and use appropriate gestures to enhance your message. Incorporate pauses to allow your words to sink in and convey the gravity of the situation. Practice your speech repeatedly to build confidence and ensure a smooth delivery that captivates your listeners.

Earth Day Speech Example #1

Look around you—breathe in the fresh air, feel the warmth of the sun, and listen to the gentle rustle of leaves. Our planet provides us with an abundance of resources, beauty, and sustenance. It is a priceless gift, one that we must cherish and safeguard for future generations.

We must start by recognizing the impact of our daily actions. It is not enough to simply talk about saving the planet; we must translate our words into meaningful deeds. Let us pledge to reduce our carbon footprint by conserving energy, embracing renewable sources, and adopting eco-friendly practices. Small changes in our lifestyles, such as recycling, reducing waste, and using public transportation, can have a profound impact when multiplied by millions.

However, our efforts should not be limited to a single day. Earth Day should serve as a catalyst for long-term commitment and action. Let us embrace a sustainable mindset and integrate it into our daily lives. Let us pass on a legacy of environmental stewardship to future generations.

Earth Day Speech Example #2

Ladies and gentlemen,

As we stand here, surrounded by the beauty of nature, let us take a moment to appreciate the wonders that Earth bestows upon us. From the breathtaking landscapes to the diverse array of plant and animal species, our planet is a masterpiece of creation. It provides us with sustenance, shelter, and endless discoveries.

However, we cannot ignore the pressing challenges that our Earth faces today. Climate change is a stark reality, with rising temperatures, melting glaciers, and unpredictable weather patterns. Pollution continues to plague our air, land, and water, posing a threat to ecosystems and human health. And the rampant destruction of forests and habitats threatens the very existence of countless species.

Embracing renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power, conserving water, and reducing waste are just a few examples of the changes we can make in our lives. By making conscious choices, we can minimize our ecological footprint and inspire others to do the same.

Remember, Earth Day is not just a single day of observance; it is a call to action that reverberates throughout the year. Let us pledge to make every day Earth Day—a day when we consciously strive to protect and preserve our planet.

Earth Day Speech Example #3

Climate change, caused by human activities, poses a significant challenge. Rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and the loss of biodiversity are all consequences of our actions. Pollution, deforestation, and overconsumption further compound these issues, putting our planet’s health at risk.

To truly make a difference, we must start by examining our own behaviors and choices. Let us embrace sustainable practices in our daily lives. By conserving energy, reducing waste, and embracing eco-friendly alternatives, we can minimize our impact on the environment. Small actions, when multiplied by millions, have the power to create significant change.

Education is another crucial aspect of effecting change. We must educate ourselves and others about the importance of environmental conservation. By raising awareness and promoting understanding, we can empower individuals to make informed decisions and take meaningful action. From schools to community organizations, let us prioritize environmental education and equip future generations with the knowledge they need to protect our planet.

In conclusion, as we celebrate Earth Day, let us remember that our actions matter. Let us honor the Earth by living in harmony with nature and inspiring others to do the same. Together, we can build a sustainable and resilient world, one where the beauty and vitality of our planet can be enjoyed by generations to come.

Final Thoughts

Writing a compelling speech for Earth Day involves engaging your audience, establishing credibility, and delivering a clear and inspiring message. By following the guidelines provided in this article, you can craft a powerful speech that raises awareness, motivates action, and inspires positive change. Remember, Earth Day is not just a single day but an opportunity to ignite a lifelong commitment to environmental stewardship. Earth Day Speech in English

Before going to speak about Earth Day, one must know what Earth Day is? Why is it important to celebrate Earth Day? This article will guide you with the important points that should be included while delivering an Earth Day speech.

Table of Contents

What is earth day and when is it celebrated, why is earth day celebrated, ways to protect our earth, faqs on earth day speech.

In our entire solar system, Earth is the only planet that sustains life. Earth Day is celebrated to protect the Earth from all man-made harm. Earth Day is celebrated worldwide on 22nd April every year. The idea of celebrating Earth Day was suggested by John McConnell (peace activist) at the UNESCO conference in the year 1969. Later, the International Earth Day was declared as 22nd April in 1970. Various countries take oaths in protecting the environment and working towards a sustainable future on this day. On Earth Day in 2016, the famous Paris Agreement was signed among countries like the United Kingdom, United States, China and 120 other countries. Events like the 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill and many other events that end up polluting the environment were the main reasons behind promoting the idea of Earth Day to save our planet from getting destroyed.

Many might often wonder why we celebrate Earth Day? For that, one has to understand how Earth helps in sustaining life on Earth. In our entire solar system, Earth is the only planet that has the right amenities (air and water) to support life on it. Through ages, Earth has provided us, i.e. mankind, with every kind of resource available to make our life as smooth as possible. Be it fresh drinking water, enough oxygen, proper landform, or proper climate to harbour life, Earth has given us everything we need.

To this present day, humankind has accepted all the resources available, but with time, their needs increased. This led them to use the Earth’s resources without keeping a check on them. In the process of taking away resources available from Mother Earth, we humans are not just drying out the resources but also harming Mother Earth.

The main reason why Earth Day is celebrated worldwide is to promote activities to protect the Earth and its resources. Through Earth Day celebrations, many people and countries take different measures to protect the resources of the Earth and work towards a more sustainable way of life. It is due to the selfish needs of human beings that Mother Earth is facing various environmental issues.

Protecting Mother Earth should be our foremost duty. If we don’t protect our planet, then after some years, all the resources that we get from Earth will be exhausted. So while we still have time, we must take proper and effective measures to make sure that our future generations can also use these resources. Let’s have a look at all the actions we can take to protect our planet.

  • The first way by which we can preserve our resources is by utilising less land for cultivation. Large areas of forest are cleared every year to make space for cultivation. We should try to grow crops that require less area, and this can be done through the crop rotation technique.
  • Instead of using non-renewable energies, We should focus on renewable resources like solar energy, wind energy, hydropower etc.
  • We should plant more trees and maintain a proper balance between human beings and nature.

Though days like the Earth Day and Environment Day are celebrated every year, it is important to realise that you do not need a set date to take some actions to preserve the planet’s resources and conserve the environment. This is the only way to ensure that our future generations can also get to live a good life on the planet.

When is Earth Day celebrated worldwide?

Earth Day is celebrated all over the world on 22nd April every year.

Why is Earth Day celebrated?

Earth Day is celebrated to promote activities to protect the environment and save Mother Earth from all the harmful effects caused by human activities.

Speech on Earth Day

‘Good morning, respected teachers and fellow students. Today, I stand before you to present my ‘Speech on Earth Day.’ Earth Day is a global event celebrated on 22 April every year. Earth Day is crucial for all of us, as it reminds us of the importance of saving Earth’s limited resources for future generations. In addition, Earth Day celebrates the efforts and accomplishments of environmentalists to protect the environment.

‘Leo Tolstoy once said, ‘One of the first conditions of happiness is the link between man and nature shall not be broken.’ Globally, several environmental movements have been launched to save earth from the harmful human activities. In India, too environmental movements like the ‘Chipko Movement, ‘Narmada Bachao Andolan,’ ‘Jungle Bachao Movement’, etc. have highlighted the importance of Earth’s natural resources.’

‘In 2023, the Earth Day theme was ‘Invest in Our Planet’ . This theme was meant to encourage businesses to shift their focus towards sustainable practices. For Earth Day 2024, EARTHDAY.ORG has launched a movement called ‘Planet vs Plastics’ . The objective of this movement is to eliminate plastic use for the sake of our planet’s health. The initial target is to reduce plastic usage by 60% in all sectors by 2040. ‘

‘With the new approach to saving the earth, EARTHDAY.ORG plans to unite governments, organisations, intellectuals, students, and NGOs to call for an end to plastics for the sake of the planet and humanity. Every year, plastic production increases to more than 380 million tons. The demand to eliminate plastic from our environment will help build a plastic-free society for future generations.’

‘Kathleen Rogers, the President of the EARTHDAY.ORG, quoted, ‘The Planet vs. Plastics campaign is a call to arms, a demand that we act now to end the scourge of plastics and safeguard the health of every living being upon our planet.’

‘Our environment’s safety is our responsibility. Plastic was once an amazing product when it was produced in limited quantity. Now this useful product has become something else. It is harming our health, deteriorating our resources, polluting our water, and damaging the environment.’

‘So on this Earth Day, let’s all unite as one and fight against plastic. Only if we act now, we can save our planet from this harmful product. Thank you.’

Speech No.1: Speech On Earth Day Celebration

  • Speaker: Professionals, Students, Teacher
  • Audience: General or Expert Gathering

Good morning,

Ladies and gentlemen, my dear student and Present Dignitaries

I am…(Self Intro.). It is my pleasure to speak in front of you.

Today is April 22, and this day is celebrated as Earth Day all over the world. Earth Day is more than just a day; it serves as a reminder to value and protect our beautiful world. It was initially commemorated in 1970 and has since grown into a worldwide celebration by people, groups, and governments to support environmental protection, sustainability, and initiatives to deal with issues like habitat loss, pollution, and climate change.

Sometimes it can seem like the last place you want to be is on Earth. In Indian tradition, the notion that the earth is the mother is firmly ingrained. We emerge from the soil. Only a representative who was also born on the same planet is our biological mother. The soil that we carry on our bodies is our true mother. The body you are carrying right now was once an insect, snake, cow, monkey, and human being, among millions of other bodies.

I am not referring to the evolution process, but rather the soil that supports all life. Not a commodity, but soil. It is significantly more intelligent and capable than you, and it is older and wiser. It is a much more extensive process than you personally know.

And there is no denying that our planet is dealing with some serious problems. A lot of issues need to be addressed, such as the destruction of biodiversity, deforestation, pollution, and climate change.

The greatest threat we are now facing is probably change in the environment or climate. As a result of the rise in global temperatures, extreme weather events like heat waves, droughts, and floods are becoming more frequent and severe. These disasters cause significant damage to ecosystems and the communities that depend on them.

Pollution is another significant issue. Our oceans, air, and soil are all negatively impacted by pollution, which also has an adverse influence on human and animal health. The use of single-use plastics and other non-biodegradable materials has a significant impact on pollution.

Earth Day acts as an indicator of how crucial it is to protect the environment. Now is the perfect time to consider how human actions affect the environment and make changes in our lifestyles to lessen our carbon footprint. The commemoration of Earth Day also contributes to raising awareness of the risks posed by climate change and the necessity of taking action to limit additional harm.

World Earth Day is a significant occasion that serves as a reminder of the value of our planet and the necessity of taking steps to safeguard it. Despite the numerous obstacles we face, there are many things we can do to change things.

Let’s pledge to take action today and every day to protect the environment for the coming generations. Let’s pledge to do something to make the world more sustainable on World Earth Day. Let’s endeavor to lessen our carbon footprint and educate ourselves and others about environmental issues. Along with planting trees and restoring wetlands and marine habitats, we must also safeguard and preserve our natural ecosystems.

We can also support Earth Day by using less electricity, conserving water from the faucet, disposing of trash properly, avoiding the use of toxic chemicals in bathroom drains, sharing our vehicles, and driving an electric vehicle.

If we all make the decision to take steps toward a greener planet, the Earth Day celebration can result in a noticeable difference. Although the path to environmental sustainability won’t be simple, we must take it in order to protect our world and the generations that follow. We must cooperate for a better future, as it is our joint duty to save and restore our planet.

Thank you

Speech No.2: Speech On World Earth Day For Students

(4 to 5 Min. Speak time)

  • Speaker: School And College Student, Teacher
  • Audience: Students, Teachers, General Publi c

Respected Principle, Teachers, and my dear students,

Today is a very special day! It’s a day that brings all of us together to celebrate and cherish the incredible home we share – our beautiful planet Earth! Welcome to the World Earth Day celebration!

On this day, we take a moment to appreciate the wonders of nature that surround us. From the lush green forests to the sparkling blue oceans, from the tall mountains to the vast deserts, our Earth is filled with breathtaking sights and amazing creatures.

You might wonder why we celebrate Earth Day. Well, it’s because we want to remind ourselves of how important it is to take care of our planet. Just like how we look after our toys, our books, and our pets, we must also take care of the Earth.

There are many simple things we can do to help our planet stay healthy and happy. One of the most important things is to reduce, reuse, and recycle. By using less plastic and paper, we can protect our oceans and forests. And when we recycle, we give new life to old things!

Let’s also remember to save energy! Turning off lights and appliances when we don’t need them helps the Earth and saves our parents’ money too! Isn’t that cool?

Another way we can show love to the Earth is by planting trees. Trees are like magical guardians of our planet. They give us fresh air to breathe and provide homes for many animals. So, let’s all become little tree planters and watch our efforts grow tall and strong!

We should also be kind to the animals and plants that live with us on Earth. Just like we care for our pets, we must show love and respect to all living creatures. Remember, we are all connected in this wonderful web of life!

Now, you might think, “I’m just a kid, how can I make a difference?” Well, let me tell you a secret – you have tremendous power! Each one of you can be an Earth superhero! By spreading the message of love and care for our planet, you can inspire others to join in the effort too.

So, on this World Earth Day, let’s make a promise together. Let’s promise to be kind to our planet every day! Let’s promise to do our best to protect it, just like we protect our family and friends.

Remember, Earth is not just a place we live; it’s our home, and we must take care of it with all our hearts. By working together, we can make a big difference and create a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come.

Thank you for being a part of this special celebration. Now, let’s go out there and be the superheroes that our Earth needs!

Happy World Earth Day!

  • It has rivers, valleys, mountains, hills, forests, oceans, plains and beaches.

10 Lines On The Earth For Kids

Now that we have some basics laid down, we can start adding more details. If we closely observe the essay lines above, we can see the flow of information. We start off with the position of the Earth in the Solar System and then come down to the geographical features of the Earth. Now, we can go into more detail for an essay for class 1 and 2.

Here’s how to describe Earth in a few lines –

  • Our Earth is located in the Milky Way galaxy.
  • The Sun is the centre of the Solar System, with eight planets revolving around it.
  • Earth is the 3rd planet from the Sun, and it has one Moon.
  • It is the only planet in our Solar System which is suitable for sustaining life.
  • The composition of the Earth’s surface is 70% water and only 30% land.
  • Water bodies such as oceans, rivers, lakes, glaciers and seas make up 70% of the water content on Earth.
  • Landforms such as mountains, hills, plateaus and plains are the four major types of land we see on Earth.
  • The water bodies are home to aquatic animals such as fishes of different species and mammals, crustaceans, reptiles and more.
  • Landforms are home to plants, vertebrates, and invertebrates such as lizards, elephants, eagles, sunflowers, and of course, us humans!
  • The Earth provides land and aquatic animals with food, water and shelter. We would not have existed without the Earth!

A Paragraph On Earth For Children

Now that we are comfortable with writing essays (information) in a numeric form, we can move along to writing essays in paragraph form. Below is a short paragraph on Earth.

Millions of years ago, the Earth was formed in one small corner of the galaxy named the Milky Way. The Big Bang caused the formation of the Sun, eight planets, their moons, and other bodies, such as dwarf planets (Pluto!). The Earth is the only planet in our Solar System which could sustain life. This is due to its strategic position; it is not too close to the Sun, nor is it too far away from the Sun. This, coupled with the right elements, allowed landforms and water bodies to form. This, in turn, supported the evolution of life on Earth. Indeed, the Earth is one of a kind!

Short Essay On Earth In English For Kids

Moving on to a slightly longer form of essay, we can start adding in more information and maybe even add paragraphs. Since you have limited words, be choosy about what you wish to write and what you wish to omit. Below is an essay for class 1, 2 and 3 on Earth.

The Milky Way galaxy is home to many stars, planets and planetary systems. One such planetary system is our Solar System. Our Solar System has eight planets, of which Earth is the fourth. The Earth rotates on its axis, which causes days and nights. It also revolves around the Sun in a fixed orbit, which causes the change in seasons.

The strategic position and movement of the Earth support the millions of species of plants and animals that inhabit it. The right elements and external forces allowed the formation of land and water bodies which provide homes and nutrients to the millions of species on the planet.

Water bodies such as oceans, rivers and lakes are homes to aquatic animals like fishes, whales and sea horses. Landforms are home to plants, animals and insects. However, in more recent times, we humans have been overusing our resources as well as polluting the environment, which is negatively affecting the planet and our co-habitants. We must strive to save the planet now before it is too late.

Long Essay On Earth In English For Children

Lastly, we will discuss and look at long-form essay for class 3. Since we have more words to play with, we can start going in-depth and look at specific topics. We can also add sub-heads and paragraph breaks. We will first start with an introduction, followed by the subheads.

The Earth is unique. It is indeed one of a kind. When the Big Bang occurred, the right elements, temperature and pressure (among other factors) created the Earth. Subsequently, the topography and the organisms emerged. Years of evolution have brought us to today, where we can study and understand not only the Earth but also other planets and galaxies.

What Is Earth?

The word ‘Earth’ is a Germanic word which simply means “the ground.” Earth is the only planet known that homes and nurtures living organisms such as ourselves. It is the fifth largest planet in our Solar System. It is also the only planet which has water on its surface. About 71% of the Earth’s surface is water, while the remaining 29% is land. It has one natural satellite, the Moon.

Origin Of The Planet Earth

The beginning of our Universe was the Big Bang. It was too hot, but it slowly cooled down. Different particles started bumping into each other, eventually forming common elements. Our solar system was formed roughly 8.7 years after the Big Bang. All solar systems begin in the same way – from Nebulas. Collapsing of dust and gas molecules within the nebulae causes the formation of planets and stars. The gravitational pull comes into action here and pulls the gas molecules and dust particles together. As these particles increase in size, the attraction between the molecules increases. This eventually forms a planet. However, the planet was still too hot to sustain life. Eventually, the planet began cooling down. The oceans are where the origin of life occurred. Slowly, evolution caused organisms to move onto land too. Over millions of years, the Earth has gone through many cycles of heating up and cooling down. This has resulted in mass extinctions and the wipeout of civilizations and organisms. However, planet Earth has managed to give birth to new organisms and help them evolve every single time.

Different Layers Of The Earth

The Earth is made up of three layers – The Crust, The Mantle and The Core

1. The Crust

This is the outer-most part of the Earth. It is mostly made up of solid rock and minerals. It is about 40km in thickness and is only 1% of the Earth’s mass. However, this part of the Earth harbours all known life in the Universe.

2. The Mantle

This is the middle part of the Earth. It is about 2900kms in thickness, and it consists of hot, dense, iron and magnesium-rich solid rock. The Crust and the Mantle make up the lithosphere, which is broken into plates, both large and small.

3. The Core

The core is the innermost part of the Earth. It is further divided into two parts – the liquid outer core and the solid inner core. The temperatures here can rise upwards of 50,000 C.

Motion Of The Earth

The Earth has mainly two motions – Rotation and Revolution.

1. Rotation

The Earth rotates on its axis in a clockwise motion. It takes the Earth 23.9 hours to complete one rotation on its axis. The rotation of the Earth causes the change in day and night.

2. Revolution

The Earth revolves around the Sun in a fixed orbit in an anticlockwise direction. It takes the Earth 365 days, 6 hours, and 9 minutes to complete one rotation around the Sun. The revolution of the Earth causes the change in seasons.

How Can We Protect The Mother Earth?

There are many ways we can protect our Earth. Some ways are:

  • Be conscious about overusing and overexploiting resources.
  • Conserve energy, both fuel and electricity.
  • Do not pollute your surroundings, especially with plastic.
  • Remember the 3Rs – Reuse, Recycle and Reduce.
  • Strive to conserve your local flora and fauna.

Below are something amazing facts about our Earth for kids:

  • The name ‘Earth’ comes from the old English and Germanic words that mean ‘the ground’.
  • The Earth orbits around the sun at a whopping speed of 30 kilometres per second!
  • The Earth’s diameter is 12,800 kilometres, making it the 5 th largest planet in our solar system.
  • The Earth is the only planet known to support life. The availability of abundant oxygen and water makes this possible.
  • Due to the Moon slowing down Earth’s rotation, the days on Earth are, in fact, getting longer!

What Will Your Child Learn From The Essay On Earth?

Your child will learn a lot about our planet, its origins, its movements, etc. The essay on planet earth will also help your child learn how to write a good composition with perfect techniques. This article takes you through essay writing in a step-by-step manner.

1. Why Planet Earth Is Called A Blue Planet?

Our environment is under distress and it is not a hidden fact anymore. The threat it is facing right now is alarming and it is our duty to save it before it gets too late. As inhabitants of this earth, everyone must come together to do their bit to save our environment. After all, it is because of our activities that our ecological balance has been disturbed. We must make sure that instead of over-exploiting the environment’s resources, we must conserve them. It is important to note that even the littlest of actions impact the environment directly or indirectly. Read Save Environment Speech here.

Need to Save Environment

The degrading quality of life on earth is well-known to all. It is all around us, one just needs to start noticing the signs. The harsh weather patterns are proof that our environment needs saving more than ever.

The occurrences of natural calamities are increasing day by day which is resulting in loss of lives. Further, the melting of the glaciers is another alarming point as to why we need to save the environment.

In addition to that, the increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is proving to be more harmful than ever. If we do not take immediate action, we will have to face grave consequences at the hands of nature.

It is rather important to note that by saving the environment, we will be saving mankind. We have to do this for our survival and not the earth’s survival. Mother earth has survived for millions of years and will continue to do so. It is mankind that is at risk, so we must start now.

Ways to Save Environment

We need to start with the proper handling of waste materials. To do so, one must begin with recycling and proper disposal of waste items. The use of coal must be reduced and we must switch to reusable power like hydro or solar power.

This way, we can adopt a healthy and greener lifestyle. On a bigger level, we see that cities must be planned as per the available water resources. This will help in the conservation of water resources. Avoid using hot water, and make do with cold water when possible. Further, the farmers must use organic fertilizers in place of pesticides.

Further, air pollution must be reduced at all costs. Everyone must avoid taking their personal cars or bikes if possible. Try carpooling or taking public transport for the same. Do not waste electricity so as to prevent global warming.

Switch off fans and light when not in use, unplug electrical appliances as well. Try to use recycled products so no unnecessary waste is produced. Moreover, avoid the use of plastic and switch to greener alternatives. For instance, use reusable bags and containers. Do not litter the roads and prevent your loved ones from doing so too.

Most importantly, plant trees as many as you can. As the amount of carbon dioxide present in the air and the rate of deforestation happening is very disruptive. So, as the trees will enhance the air quality, we must encourage the planting of trees. Moreover, it is equally important to discourage deforestation.

Every year, we are losing our forests which carry the potential to make the air cleaner. It must begin with us and our children. Teach them from a young age to be responsible for the environment and work to save it for a better and greener future.

What is Nature?

Nature includes our natural surroundings including both the biotic and abiotic components. It is essential for our survival and provides us with air, water, and trees. It plays an important role in maintaining the ecological balance of Earth. Here we have provided three dedication speech examples about nature. There is a Long speech about nature and a short 1 minute speech about nature for students and we have also provided 10 lines on Nature Topics for Speech for kids. Students can refer to them to get some idea on the topic.

Long and Short Dedication Speech Example about Nature

Long speech about nature.

Good afternoon all! Today, I am here to deliver a Speech About Nature. For all our needs, such as food, oxygen, air, natural resources, we are all dependent on nature and, most importantly, it gives us a place where we live. Our human life started on this planet, and our "Mother Earth" has faced the dangers of devastation and abuse ever since. Beautiful forests have been ruined because of the innate selfish nature of humans, rivers have been polluted and wide-open areas have been used for factories or other architectural growth.

We don't know that we are invoking Mother Earth's wrath, which can pose a serious threat to our lives. Our land is currently facing the results of all the harmful practices, caused by the drying up of the river, the dying of plants, and the disappearance of mammal species. Another serious issue which we are dealing with is 'global warming', which has a tremendous effect on our atmospheres, such as thawing glaciers, rising sea level and rapidly evolving climate change. This is why we should all track our operations and assist in controlling such circumstances.

The question now arises: how do we control our activities?  Water is an essential natural resource. Therefore, if not in use, we can save every drop of water, by fixing any leakage in taps and closing them properly when not in use. We can practise rainwater harvesting as there is unnecessary water pollution and it is a good means to make use of rainwater. Additionally, wet or dry waste should not be thrown into the drainage pipes as they ultimately harm our water bodies.

As for the protection of our plants, toxic pesticides shouldn’t be used and the use of home remedies or other environmentally friendly tools should be encouraged. Also, people can avoid throwing rotting fruits, vegetables, leftover food, and eggshells in the waste bin and instead use those to make organic manure for their home garden. Different activities, such as helping to generate fertilizer, aid a ton in recycling waste products from useful items.

Similarly, we should start conserving the electricity used by us. We must switch the power button off before leaving our room/house. When public transport can be used, we shouldn’t use private cars. In reality, we can also use bicycles for a short distance, and protect our environment from the unnecessary release of harmful gasses from our vehicles. In this way, we can make our precious contribution to protecting Mother Earth from permanent/irreversible damage.

I would like to conclude this speech by requesting each of you to spread awareness regarding our environment and the practices which we can follow to save it.

Short 1 Minute Speech on Nature

Today, I am here to deliver a 1 minute speech on nature. One of the amazing gifts with which the planet earth is endowed is nature. It's the incomparable beauty of planet earth. Nature comprises the sweet birds singing, the change of season, the blessed morning and evening, the light of the rivers, the thunderstorms, the floods, the glaciers, the mountains, etc. In reality, the variety and blessing of nature can never be counted by humanity. Nature, in human life, has tremendous meaning and significance. To protect our lives, we need water, fresh air, and the earth. Mankind's survival is entirely dependent on nature.

Sadly, at the hands of humans, nature has suffered a great deal. Humanity has damaged and ruined nature in different ways over a hundred years or more. Mankind's industrial and technological advancement has hit the flow and rhythm of nature badly. Without understanding the fact that its destruction would end human existence, we have been unnecessarily misusing nature and its wealth for our material benefit.

The ecology of our lives has been seriously disrupted by the cutting of trees, burning of fossil fuels, pollution of soil, water and climate, etc. Nature is at immense risk. The atmosphere is contaminated by the introduction of dangerous and contaminating elements into it. We are experiencing shifts in the patterns of the atmosphere. The living testimony to this reality is the torrential rains, floods, droughts, earthquakes, landslides and glacier loss, etc.

It is time for us to understand the significance and value of our mother nature. We need to prepare and behave accordingly to tackle it effectively. To rescue our future generations, we need to save nature.

10 Lines on Nature Topics for Speech

Here we have provided pointers which will help you in writing a 1 minute Speech about Nature.

The surroundings where we live, the natural resources or food we consume are parts of nature.

Forests, hills, rivers, seas, deserts, weather etc. are part of nature.

Nature provides us with opportunities to satisfy our needs and wants, such as water, air, and food.

Earth is the only known world that supports life for good and has biodiversity survival.

The environment, the climate and the weather are part of nature and are important to us.

Nature is also a major source of Ayurvedic medicines that have been used in the treatment of different common and fatal diseases for thousands of years.

Nature has an ecosystem consisting of biotic and abiotic components which are complementary and a part of nature.

As for the protection of our plants, toxic pesticides shouldn't be used and the use of home remedies or other environmentally friendly tools should be encouraged.

Human wellbeing is entirely connected to the health of the surrounding community. Nature is full of different resources responsible for our lives that are renewable and non-renewable.

In reality, we can also use bicycles for a short distance, and protect our environment from the unnecessary release of harmful gasses from our vehicles.

Long Speech On Solar Systems And Planets 500 Words In English

Good Morning to my respected Principal, my teachers, and everyone present here.

Today, I got the opportunity to discuss one of my favorite topics- the solar system and planets. From a very young age, the stars, galaxies, moons, and solar systems have amazed me. It has intrigued me with questions about their very existence. Where are they situated? What are their structures comprised of? So, today I will be explaining the solar system and its family of planets.

Our solar system came into existence 4.6 billion years ago. It was formed due to the gravitational collapse of a part of a molecular cloud. A shockwave by an exploding star named Supernova caused the molecular cloud made of interstellar gas and dust to collapse. That is how the creation of the solar system occurred.

As we all know, the solar system comprises the star, known as the Sun, along with a trail of planets. All of the planets are bound together by the force of gravity. It also consists of dwarf planets, moons, asteroids, meteors, and comets. The Sun, which is the star of the solar system, comprises 98% of all the materials present in the solar system. Its gravitational force is very high because of its size. The surface temperature of the Sun is 6000 degrees Celsius that increases to 20 million in the interior layers.

The Sun forms the central body of the solar system around which all the planets revolve in their respective orbits. The planets comprise of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Yes, I have not mentioned Pluto since Pluto is now considered a ‘dwarf planet.’ These planets revolve around the Sun, maintaining their respective speeds. The solar system is divided into two parts. The inner part has the Sun, Mercury, Venus Earth, and Mars. The remaining planets form a part of the outer solar system. The asteroid belt lies between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.

The smallest planet of the solar system is Mercury, which is also the closest planet to the Sun, whereas the giant planet in the solar system is Jupiter.

An interesting fact about Jupiter is that it is surrounded by twelve satellites. Venus is considered as Earth’s twin as they share a similar size, mass, and density. Out of all the planets, only Earth can sustain life, thus rightly named the “blue planet.” The Earth has a natural satellite, the Moon revolving eastwards. According to various astronomers, there is some possibility of life in Mars after Earth, the only planet with life. Saturn has three rings of ice that makes it unique from the other planets. Uranus moves around the Sun tilting at an angle of 90-degree. Let me say a fun fact about Neptune. Neptune was detected as a planet by mathematical calculations.

I would end my speech here and thank my Principal and teachers for giving me this opportunity to speak on one of my favorite topics.

2024 Emmy winners and presenters couldn't keep their paws off political cat jokes

Awards shows and political commentary often make inevitable co-presenters at major awards shows, and the 2024 Emmys were no exception.

Candice Bergen, who presented the award for outstanding actress in a comedy series (to Jean Smart, who won for "Hacks" for the third time), used her time at the mic for wry yet cutting political humor.

The five-time Emmy winner and star of shows like "Murphy Brown" and movies like "Miss Congeniality," mentioned the time during the run of her beloved sitcom when then-Republican Vice President Dan Quayle spoke out against "Murphy" after the unmarried character, played by Bergen, became pregnant and decided to raise her baby on her own.

She then lobbed a loaded joke at  current GOP VP nominee JD Vance , without even mentioning his name.

"Today a Republican candidate for vice president would never attack a woman for having kids. So as they say, my work here is done. Meow."

The double-barreled joke played on Vance's past comments noting that only women with families cared about the fate of the nation. He also bemoaned the nation being run by "a bunch of childless cat ladies."

Other Emmy presenters and winners couldn't resist using their time in the limelight for their own political jabs, many riffing on the same feline theme.

"The Bear" actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach , who won for best supporting actor, said: "Thank you to my parents. They're taking such nice care of my cat."

Selena Gomez ribs 'Only Murders in the Building' co-stars Martin Short and Steve Martin while making cat joke

When Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez took the stage, the "Only Murders In The Building" stars also riffed their way into a cat joke.

"Steve, let me just say what an honor it is for me to be working with someone who looks like he’s fallen and can’t get up," Short said.

"And let me say what an honor it is for me to be working with someone who looks like a former women’s tennis champion," Martin said.

Then Gomez: "And let me say what an honor it is to work with two guys who are this far away from being childless cat ladies."

'The Bear' star Liza Colon-Zayas urges viewers to vote

Others took a more direct approach to politics.

Liza Colón-Zayas , who plays cook Tina Marrero on "The Bear," got emotional after winning the Emmy for best supporting actress in a comedy series. It was considered an upset after most pundits had predicted either  Meryl Streep  ("Only Murders in the Building") or Hannah Einbinder ("Hacks").

Colón-Zayas seemed equally surprised, admitting she did not prepare a speech despite her husband encouraging her to do so.

But after thanking many co-workers and some friends, she ended her speech with an simple bipartisan appeal: "Thank you for giving me a new life with this show, and to all the Latinas who are looking at me, keep believing and vote. Vote for your rights."

Jon Stewart addresses second Trump assassination attempt during 2024 Emmys

Jon Stewart resumed his Emmy-winning ways Sunday night. In taking the trophy for best talk show, he picked up where he left off after nabbing 11 similar awards during the heart of his original show tenure.

The host, who recently took back the anchor desk one day a week in order to comment on the current election season, was first to address Sunday's assassination attempt of former president Donald Trump, a second such attempt in the past few months.

"Look, we live in a horrible moment," Stewart told reporters in the press room after his win. "I think the one rule maybe we could all benefit from in terms of engagement is no shooting. No matter how mad you are, no matter who you don’t like, or who you hate, I believe instituting a no shooting policy would be the way to take things down a notch."
